Truck Companies Finding Ways to Save

Those high diesel prices have big rig drivers looking for ways to stretch their money. Volk Transfer in Mankato is using two different ways to help save money. One is a device called a governor, this device restricts the speed the trucker is allowed to travel... helping with fuel economy. The other is an auxiliary power unit which allows the truck driver to use heat and air conditioning while the engine is off. One truck driver we spoke with says his truck isn't only governed but he also uses other methods to save money. "Basically I just use cruise control and I shut it off a lot some of the fuel dryers, anything you can do to save fuel." Harlan Prindle says it costs him between 650 and 750 dollars each time he fuels up.
