Kids Learn History With A Trip Back In Time
Published Date: 05-15-2008 07:16 PM CT
And finally tonight: Some Maple River High School students are using a class assignment as a chance to take a trip back in time. For the exhibit 'Tour Through Time' history students studied, then recreated, five time periods. The Prehistoric, Middle Ages, Ancient Greece, The Aztec's and the Eqyptians... all in the schools gym. One student, who played King Henry the 8th from the Middle Ages, says the project is a hands on way to teach kids about history. History class student Billy Fay says, "Seeing what has been done in earlier times and it's kind of a learning from history thing so that history doesn't repeat itself and we can learn from the good and take away the bad from what has happened in the past." You can take a tour through time tomorrow morning from 8:30 until 11:30 at Maple River High School. Everyone in the community is invited to check it out.
