The North Mankato Horseshoe Club is looking for pitchers & teams for the 2018 season. If you are interested in playing horseshoes, please email: by April 1st, 2018 / You are welcome to join us at our membership meeting on April 2nd, 2018.


Grow your own vegetables and flowers in a beautiful, well-maintained local garden. A small fee, $30, covers water, compost and use of tools on a 10’ x 15’ plot. March 1-17th

Carnegie Art Center- From March 1-17th you will see displays from local artist Craig Groe and Kay Herbst Helms. Craig will be featuring an exhibition of oil and acrylic paintings incorporating figurative abstract imagery. Herbst Helms’ exhibition is of moving water, photography. Gallery & Gift Shop hours during this time are Thursdays 1-7, Fridays 1-4 and Saturdays 11-5. Promotion of young music artist - School Sisters of Notre Dame is inviting you to an Organ concert featuring young artist Ryan Mueller. He will be playing 19th Century Compositions on the historic Johnson & Son organ. This even will be held on March 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Our Lady of Good Counsel. Pancake benefit and silent auction for Lue Arndt and her family to help with expenses incurred while Lue is undergoing cancer treatments and a liver transplant. Breakfast will be held at the Eagle Lake American Legion on March 18th from 9 – 1 p.m. This benefit is being sponsored by Epiphany Lutheran Church and Give2uinc. Raising money for the Lion of the Quarter Scholarship – The Comfrey Lions All You Can Eat Pancake & Ham Brunch will be held at the Comfrey Community Center on Sunday, March 18th from 10:00 – 12:30 p.m. They will be serving all you can eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, orange juice, milk and coffee.

March 20th

Mankato Paddling and Outings Club invites you to Belgrade Methodist Church on March 20th at 7:00 p.m., come and enjoy photographs and stories with Bo & Lynda Ernst from their trips to the Boundary Waters and Quetico Provincial Park in Canada. Experience the beauty of the Northern boreal forest, the excitement of catching northern pike and lake trout. Next trip in the works for Bo & Lynda is a hiking trip to New Zealand next February.

March 22nd

Chili Feed Fundraiser for the Five Sister’s Project will be held at the Mankato Eagles Auxiliary #269 on Thursday, March 22 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. The Five Sisters Project serves women in crisis by providing confidential comfort and critical care, spiritual coaching, life skills training, resources, and referrals. Our goal is also to provide temporary, transitional housing for women in extreme or dangerous situations. The cost of the Chili Feed is $7 for a bowl of chili and all the fix’ins, hard roll, and dessert.

Annual North Mankato Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry, Friday March 23rd at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, corner of Grand & Sherman St., lower North Mankato. Serving baked and deep-fried fish, side dishes, dessert and beverages. Serving times will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Cost $10 for adults, $6 kids, maximum $30 family, kids under age 6 eat free.

Sharing Jesus with kids and families in the community - Kids join Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and School on Saturday, March 24th from 9-1 p.m. for a morning of crafts, games songs and stories. Families are welcome to join us at 12:15 for lunch. Location: 1123 Marsh Street, Mankato.

Saturday, March 24 from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. Peace Lutheran Church located at 2090 Commerce Drive, North Mankato will be holding an Open House. Come and tour the band new Preschool rooms, new addition and remodeled sanctuary. Free coffee and breakfast foods plus activities for the kids – Free Event, all are invited.

The Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24th at 10 a.m. at Oak Terrace Senior Living, 640 3rd St., Gaylord. Participants are encouraged to come early and take a picture with the Easter Bunny beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will also be prizes, face painting, coloring, and a movie. This event is free and open to the public.

The 28th annual Knights of Columbus Silent and Live Auction will be held at the St. John Vianney School in Fairmont on Saturday, March 24 beginning at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at or near 8:30 p.m. The event is open to the public with free admission. Come join in on the fun by bidding on many great items such as meat packages, casino packages, gifts certificates, Twins tickets and so much more. A donation from the proceeds will go to ARC and Kinship programs.

Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society 15th Annual Wine & Beer Tasting – Thursday, April 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Country Inn & Suites (1900 Premier Drive, Mankato). All you can eat and drink! The evening includes wine & beer tasting, plus desserts and hors d’oeuvres provided by local restaurants and caterers. Tickets $25, advance tickets only available online at / Tickets can also be purchased at Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits and both Hy-Vee locations at the customer service desk.

April 6th

Knights of Columbus Fish Boil – Friday, April 6th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the Church of Saint Peter (1801 West Broadway, St. Peter). Please join them for boiled Icelandic Pollock, carrots, potatoes, onions and cherry or apple pie. Adults $15/Youth 6-12 $5/Pre-Schooolers are Free.

April 8th

St. John’s Knights of Columbus (623 S. Broad St., Mankato) invites you to their Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 8th from 8:45-11:30 a.m. in Matthews Hall (lower level of St. John’s Church). They will delicious plain & blueberry pancakes, eggs, meat, applesauce, coffee, mile and orange juice. Proceeds will go to Echo Food Shelf and St. John’s Vacation Bible School. Suggested Donation: Adults $7 / $24 max for family.

April 11th

Come enjoy homemade ice-cream at the annual Kimball Church Ice-Cream Social on Sunday, April 8th from 11 to 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpha, Mn. In addition to great ice-cream we will be serving chicken noodle dumpling, chicken wild rice or potato soup as well as ham & hot turkey sandwiches. Free will offering.

All are invited to learn more about South Central Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and our mission to support military branches of all services throughout Nicollet, Blue Earth & LeSueur Counties. Guest speaker will be Tim Adams from MSU Veterans Office. This event will be held on April 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Morson-Ario VFW Post 9713.

April 12th

Please join us for our monthly quilt guild meeting. New members welcome. Program for April is Nita Schultz, What a Hoot! “Making a Quilt Room”. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month all year long at 6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (150 Stadium Ct.) We have a program every month such as speakers or a quilt shop or a member’s trunk show. We also have workshops a couple of times a year. Each meeting we have show & tell, a FQ lottery and great snacks. Our Bi-annual quilt show will be held April 2019.

April 15th

Jackson Lake Lutheran Church of Amboy, Mn.— Holding their Spring Fest on Sunday, April 15th from 10:30 -1:00 p.m. This event is a luncheon Buffet featuring; hot beef & turkey sandwiches, wide variety of salads and many Scandinavian goodies. They will also have a large Bake Sale & Craft sale. Take out meals available. Adults $9 / Kids 6-11 $4 / Under 5 years old are free.

Bridges Community School Annual Spaghetti Dinner, Silent Auction & Raffle will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Kato Ballroom, Mankato. At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th, the Mankato Riverblenders Barbershop Chorus will present their annual spring show entitled “The Boat Show: Harmony on the High C’s” at the Crossview Covenant Church, 2000 Howard Dr., North Mankato. After presenting the annual show, the chorus will move to the AmericInn Hotel & Suites at 240 Stadium Rd., Mankato, where it will present an entirely different dinner show. There will be a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner. The evening show eill start at 7:30 p.m.

2918 MACV Motorcycle & Classic Car Ride, Saturday May 19th starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Mankato location: 724 Madison Avenue, Mankato, MN. Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to helping MN Veterans since 1990.
