October 18th

We are offering a free kids dental clinic on Thursday October 18. We will be providing examinations, xrays, cleanings, and fluoride for all children 18 and under in Mankato and the surrounding communities. We are located on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus at 120 Clinical Sciences Building. To make and appointment please call 507-389-2147. The appointment times are 9:00, 10:30, 1:00 and 2:30.

October 18th

Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato is hosting their annual fall luncheon/bake sale on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 11am to 1pm. The price is $7 for adults and Kids 12 and under are $3.50. The price includes an array of delicious hotdishes, salads, HyVee artisan breads, dessert and beverages. The Bake sale is from 10:30am to 1pm.

October 18th

The Fall Rummage and Bake Sale will be held at Martin Luther High School, Northrop, on October 18-19-20. Sale hours are Thursday 4-8 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday (Bag Day) 8 a.m. to noon. Set up will begin on Saturday, October 13th and continue throughout the week. Donations of Fall and Winter clothing, household items, miscellaneous, baked goods and garden produce are appreciated. Volunteer help is welcome.

4th Annual New Ulm Nightmares Haunted House at a new location in downtown New Ulm (21 South Minnesota Street.)  From the creators of Turner Hall Haunted House comes "The Sanitorium"..The patients are dying to meet you. 11th Annual Pocahontas Bake Sale and Fundraiser. St Peter Red Men Club, 412 south 3rd St. The Bake sale takes place on Fri, Oct. 19th from 4 – 7 pm and Saturday, October 20th from 9am to 6 pm. Bingo Saturday at 4pm. The silent auction bidding starts Friday at 4pm and ends after Bingo Saturday evening. Proceeds from bingo and the quilt raffle to benefit Alzheimer’s. Raffle tickets are available from any Pocahontas member and at the Red Men Club while they last. Centenary United Methodist Church's United Methodist Women are holding their annual Fall Rummage Sale Friday, October 19 from 9am until 6pm and Saturday October 20 from 8-11am (Sack sale Saturday for $3 per sack.) The proceeds from the sale will be used to support their many mission projects. Centenary is located at 501 S 2nd St Mankato, MN

The Knights of Columbus "Famous" Fish Bowl takes place on Friday, October 19 from 5-7:30 pm at the church of St. Peter. Price for adults is $15 and youth 6-12 are $5.

Stand Down For Veterans is taking place on Saturday October 20th from 9-2pm at the Verizon Center in Downtown Mankato. All Veterans are welcome to attend. Call MVAC at 507-345-8258 for more information.

It's Booya time! Booya is a think soup of Belgian origin loaded with meats and vegetables. The Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal is having a booya dinner on Sunday Oct. 21 from 4-7pm. The Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.

Heritage Acres Fall Festival is Sunday Oct. 21 from 10am to 4pm. There will be a soup and sandwich dinner from 11am-1pm. Join us in our final event for our Fall Author Series on Monday, October 22nd at 6pm. The North Mankato Taylor Library will be hosting local young adult authors, Kirstin Cronn-Mills and Rebecca Davis. Both will share their experience with the writing process and becoming an author. Open to all ages. No registration required.

Thoreau’s 1861 MN Journey Revisited, October 25 | 2:00 PM | $3 for non members, Free NCHS members. Since 2006 Dave Solheim, poet and retired English Professor, has been visiting the locales of Thoreau’s Minnesota travels and has prepared a book-length manuscript of his experiences including detailed material from Thoreau’s travel notes and his correspondence of that time. Solheim will make an illustrated presentation of parts of his study emphasizing nearby locations at the Treaty Site on Thursday 25 October.

The 25th Annual Chicken Dinner hosted by the St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church takes place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6-7pm in Matthews Hall (lower level of the church). This is a Baked Chicken dinner complete with fresh pie and beverages. The cost is $10 per adult, $3 per child (12 and under) and preschoolers free. There is also an immediate family price of $25. Take out is also available.

Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, MN is hosting a Lutefisk and Meatball family style dinner on Saturday, October 27th. Serving begins at 4 and goes until 7pm. Tickets sold at the door with seating by number. Prices is $16 for adults, $8 for students (12-17), $6 for youth (6-11) and 5 and under are free. Menu includes lutefisk, meatballs, lefse, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, cranberries, dessert and beverages.

Cambria Presbyterian Church is holding a Pork and Pumpkin Feed, Bake Sale and raffle on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm. The Menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, beans, coleslaw, and pumpkin desserts.

Shave Down, Beards & Beer Event at the Mankato Brewery starting at 6pm to Kick off “No Shave November” and #growMANkato’s fifth annual men's cancer awareness and fundraising initiative with straight razor shaves & trims by Y Barbers, free food from Pub 500, live music, limited release Mankato Brewery brew. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to support our local JZ Cancer Fund designed to help local cancer patients .

The Scandian Grove Lutheran Church is once again holding its Annual Lutefisk and Swedish Meatball Fall Supper. The Supper this year will be Saturday, November 3rd, 2018. Serving times are from 11:30 to 5:30 PM. Prices are Adults-$18, Ages 6-12-$7, 5 and under-free. 
The meal includes: Lutefisk, Melted Butter, White Sauce, Swedish Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Corn, Lefse, Cranberry Sauce, Breads, Apple and Pumpkin Desserts, Milk and Coffee. Take out is available. Scandian Grove is located 10 miles west of St. Peter on Hwy 22, ½ mile North on County Road 52. A portion of the net proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

On Saturday, November 10, volunteers from VINE will be available to assist aging adults and people with documented physical disabilities with their fall raking. VINE has been assisting those who need help with their fall raking for 23 years. Last year nearly 200 yards in Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter and rural Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties were raked by volunteer groups organized through VINE. This year, several hundred volunteers are needed to help. Rakes and lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Those interested in having their yards raked or volunteering can register online at vinevolunteers.com or call 507- 387-1666.

The Mankato Symphony Orchestra presents Music on the Hill, Romantic Masterpieces. Sunday, November 11 at 2pm at the Chapel at Good Counsel, the Mankato Symphony Orchestra will perform music by Debussy, Turina and Arriaga.

The Odin Firemen's Relief Association will hold its annual Pancake Benefit on 11/11/2018 at the Odin Community Center in Odin from 9:30AM to 1 PM.
The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, juice and coffee. A free will donation will be accepted in lieu of a charge. In honor of Veterans Day, one half of the net proceeds will be donated to veterans projects in Watonwan County. The balance of the proceeds will be used to purchase new turnout gear for new firefighters. Come and enjoy the fellowship of your friends and neighbors while supporting 2 worthy causes.

Max Wojtanowicz Performance: Ball: A Musical Tribute To My Lost Testicle @ South Central College 7pm
As part of #growMANkato’s fifth annual men's cancer awareness and fundraising initiative, testicular cancer survivor and performing artist, Max W, presents his journey with stage 3 testicular cancer through comical storytelling and original song. Performance is free and open to the public.

Join the Mankato Symphony Orchestra at the incredible Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota for our Free Family Series. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 3 pm. These concerts are created for children and their caregivers. All ages welcome! The performance features musicians, actors, storytelling, and musical activities. Concerts have a run time of approximately 45 minutes and are performed without intermission.

Come and support South Central Beyond the Yellow Ribbon at their 3rd Annual Chilifest located at the Morson-Ario-Strand VFW Post 950 (1900 N Riverfront Dr. Mankato). There will be a chili feed, silent auction and kids activities throughout the day. Cost is $10 at the door and military members get in for free. The event starts at 11am and goes through 2pm.
