Good evening and thanks for joining us, I'm Nicole Winters...The Republican National Convention wrapped up last night in St. Paul...The final day was one of the busier nights for police...Nearly 400 people were arrested during an anti-war march ... that brings the total arrested to over 800 for the week. And one area state trooper experienced all of the action first - hand.Lieutenant Scott McConkey usually patrols the Mankato - area... but for the past four days he's offered his services to the RNC...Lt. Scott McConkey says, "I met a lot of people all around... delegates, protesters, I even tried to talk to a few anarchists but they wouldn't talk to me."Lt. McConkey was part of a mobile field force called CART... Chemical Agent Response Team. His job was to protect property, people, and their rights... but says at times it got intense. And last night they were prepared.Lt. McConkey says, "Several items were found that displayed that this groups intent were bent on harm and destruction and they had things that they could have used and propelled and used as missiles and thrown."Several other troopers from our area also offered their services to St. Paul.
