Minnesota State University student leaders are asking the city to take more action regarding stricter underage drinking policies.
A unanimous vote last week by the Minnesota State Student Association shows student opposition to the university's new policy. The changes permit students cited for underage drinking off campus to face school sanctions as well.
MSSA President Ryan Anderson says they believe drug and alcohol related offenses are a community problem and MSU students are being singled out.
Ryan Anderson says, "There is no doubt we play a large part in that it is a serious issue to the university's reputation and to the students who go here, but it's not just our issue."
MSSA student leaders say they would like the city to impose sanctions for all people cited for underage drinking whether they are MSU students or not.
