Five Southern Minnesota Cities, including Mankato, are being awarded grants by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Mankato will use their $250,000 dollars to install public infrastructure for a new industrial park on the north side of North Victory and Power Drive.  Mankato proved that the help from the DEED grant would create or expand jobs and economic opportunities in the community.M

ankato economic development specialist Casey McCabe says, "We're very aggressive in this area to attract business and retain it, and keep it within our community, so it's very encouraging."

North Mankato, Saint James, and Brewster also received the full amount, with New Ulm getting just over $200,000.
