The Senate is set to vote on a new bailout package...And while the new version is expected to pass the Senate easily, it's up in the air in the House.And, as News 12's Betsy Gessell explains: today Congressman Tim Walz spent the day listening to what Southern Minnesotans have to say about the plan.Opinion's differ about the terms of a financial bailout package, but nearly everyone wants *their opinion heard.This week alone, Congressman Tim Walz received over 12- hundred emails from concerned Minnesotan's.So today, Walz hit the streets of Mankato to hear from his constituents first hand... ready to bring their opinions back to Washington.Brad Ahrenstorff says, ''The main street is important, the economic development and those people, the individuals that have been living paycheck to paycheck 2 to 3 years ago right now they're not able to and they have to use credit. It's hard. It's affecting the entire economy.''Congressman Walz made three stops in downtown Mankato... looking for input on how the bailout package will impact local business owners.Jim Downs Pagliai's Pizza owner says, ''We're seeing some of our clients pull back, they're afraid. They're just not going to do anything until something happens.''The House Monday rejected the 700 million dollar rescue plan.A plan Walz believes failed because there were no guarantees to taxpayers.Tim Walz says, ''There wasn't enough regulation to prevent it in the 1St place in the future and there wasn't enough guarantees that if this plan is not the right plan that the tax payer's not stuck with it.''Now frustrated Minnesotans want to know who's responsible for the financial turmoil and reassurance that it won't happen again.Tim Walz says, ''What they're saying is: do it, but protect us. Get it right make sure that this never happens again.''Betsy Gessell says, ''Congressman Walz heads to Washington tomorrow to work, but whether or not a pailout package will be voted on is anyone's guess.In Mankato Betsy Gessell News 12.
