Our other top story... Election day is now under a month away. Minnesota is known for strong numbers at the polls, and this year looks to be even stronger. News 12's Erick Lind takes a look at how officials are making one last push for voter preregistration. Election day can be quick and painless, but if you haven't registered in advance it can be time consuming. The answer is pre-registration. There is just one week to get your pre-registration finished, and places, like Sam's Club in Mankato, are helping with the final drive. Sam's Club's Nancy Ganger says, "Sam's decided we should do a civic event, and we thought with the election coming up, maybe we should register people to vote. It's an important thing to do.If you don't make it to one of the drives, you can always stop by the Blue Earth County Government Center to pre-register. From the sounds of it there are already plenty that have but they are always looking for more. Blue Earth County's Patty O'Connor says, "Our numbers are really good. I think we're over 85 percent pre-registering our voters we do have a lot of students here and we're gearing in and focusing in on those. We're encouraging anyone that who moved, or hasn't voted in the last couple of years to re-register just to make sure they'll be on the roster." Blue Earth County has seen its registered voters climb from 30,000 in the last election to 38,000 of the 58,000 residents this year. Blue Earth isn't the only county growing either. Martin has grown by nearly 700 voters since 2006, and Nicollet has added 400 voters since the primary to bring their number above 19,000. And remember, officials say you can still vote absentee if you're out of town on election-day. In Mankato, Erick Lind, News 12.
