Congressman Tim Walz has received an A plus rating from a national veterans' organization for his work in Congress.Veteran Wynn Kearney says, ''I think on the veterans' issues and veterans' representation, Tim Walz has been fantastic and I think that's just one of things he brings to Congress.''Mankato area veterans today gathered to announce Walz received the rating from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America group. The group also announced they're sending a letter to Walz's opponent, Dr. Brian Davis, saying Davis has a troubling lack of knowledge of veterans issues.Walz Campaign Manager Chris Schmitter says, ''Dr. Brian Davis cannot identify one single area of care and benefits for our veterans where he'd make an improvement. That's a huge concern.''Davis countered saying his background in medicine would help improve the transfer of medical records between the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, and that Walz received the A plus rating from a partisan organization.Dr. Brian Davis says, "They gave Senator Harry Reid an A rating. Senator Reid is the same Senator who on the floor of the U.S. Senate, stated that the Iraq War is lost. This organization really has strong Democratic ties. I'm afraid that this event that Congressman Walz's campaign has put together is nothing more than a political stunt."Davis said he plans to respond to the group's letter.
