Welcome back.New research about the risks involved in in - vitro fertilization... and the dangers it may pose for babies.Meg Oliver has that story and more in today's health watch report.Group therapy might be the key to helping some cancer patient cope better and live longer.A new study's found women with breast cancer who participated in group therapy were 56-percent less likely to die from the disease after 11 years.Researchers believe the therapy reduces stress....ultimately improving their immune system and quality of life.A major government report confirms "Gulf War Syndrome" is a legitmate condition suffered by more than 175-thousand U-S war veterans.The disease likely resulted from exposure to toxic chemicals, including pesticides often used during the war.The news could help vets who have battled the government for treatment for a wide range of unexplained illnesses.Babies conceived using in-vitro fertilization have a greater risk of being born with certain birth defects than those conceived naturally.Researchers found these infants were 2 to 4 times more likely to be born with certain kinds of heart problems and gastro-intestinal disorders.But they note the overall risk of such defects remains low.Those are some of today's top medical stories.I'm Meg Oliver - CBS News - New York.
