Automakers and Nation's Governors Ask Congress for Billions in Bailout

Thanks for joining us.I'm Carly Aplin.It's high stakes poker with billions of dollars and possibly millions of jobs on the table.First, the big three automakers again ask congress for billions in bailout - while the nation's governors seek billions in assistance.Fox's Craig Boswell reports from Washington.THE NATIONS GOVERNORS WANT PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA TO INCLUDE BILLION DOLLARS FOR STATES IN A LARGER ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE.SPECIFICALLY 176-BILLION DOLLARS.RENDELL says: "We were here to voice our concerns and talk about our needs, but also to talk about our willingness to help the new administration fashioning this recovery plan."MORE THAN 40 STATES ARE FACING BUDGET DEFICITS-- AND THEY WANT THE MONEY TO PAY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND RISING HEALTHCARE COSTS CAUSED BY THE ECONOMIC DOWNTOWN.THE PRESIDENT-ELECT PROMISED RELIEF BUT REQUIRED COOPERATION.OBAMA says: "I will not simply ask our nations governors to help implement our economic recovery plan. I will ask you to help design that plan."PALIN says: "The campaign is over and I so appreciated this meeting that we had, I'm quite optimistic about moving forward in a bipartisan manner"SOME GOVERNORS QUESTION ANY NEW STIMULUS PLANS.SANFORD says: "Can we indeed solve a problem that was ultimately created by too much debt by adding yet more debt?"MEANWHILE, THE BIG THREE AUTOMAKERS SUBMITTED PLANS FOR THEIR SLICE OF THE STIMULUS PIE.ASKING CONGRESS -- FOR A SECOND TIME-- FOR 25-BILLION TO KEEP THE COMPANIES AFLOAT.UPTON says: "GM will probably say at the end of the week that if they don't get some kind of bridge loan commitment, certainly this month now that we're in December we're not actually sure they can make it very much into next year at all."DEMOCRATIC LEADERS DEMANDED MORE ANSWERS FROM AUTOMAKERS.PELOSI says: "We want to see a restructuring of their approach, that they have a new business approach."BOSWELL says: "Representatives from the big three will detail their plans tomorrow. Company executives will testify before Congress Thursday and Friday.In Washington, Craig Boswell, Fox News."
