Redwood Falls Woman Dies in House Fire

A house fire in Redwood Falls leaves one woman dead.Shortly before seven last night, calls came in reporting smoke from the residence at 221 East Broadway.Within a half hour, 40 year old Laurie Peppers was dead.Fox Mankato's Ryan Gustafson has the story.Neighbors in the duplex next to Pepper's did what they could to save her.Notifying authorities after they smelled smoke coming from the residence below, even venturing inside the burning home...Steve Mortenson says, "The first emergency responders arriving noticed that neighbors were carrying out a woman from the 221 residence. Emergency responders started performing CPR, and shortly there after she was transferred to a local hospital by paramedics."Peppers was declared dead by hospital staff at 8-20 last night, with the cause of death listed as Carbon Monoxide poisoning.Investigations will continue into the fire, as officials hope to piece together Pepper's last moments.Mortenson says, "As far as we know, she lived there by herself."Ryan Gustafson says, "A preliminary report from the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's office has determined that the fire started near a sofa in the living room.
