A small town in Iowa loses three downtown buildings after a fire yesterday morning. One of the buildings destroyed housed a family owned business. News 12's Jennifer Hudspeth has more has more on what this now means for the community. Brandon Ehret says, "I've never had anything like this as long as I have been chief and been on the department." Jennifer Hudspeth says, "What should have been a quiet Sunday morning in Lake Park Iowa, ended in tragedy when the Hemphill Family Care Building and two others burned to the ground. Business owner Denise Hemphill lost everything....Denise Hemphill says, "Well, it's pretty devastating, it's like starting over." Smoldering embers are all that is left of the family clinic. Brandon says, "As far as the community, it was a pretty important business, people utilized it." Denise lost twenty nine years of nursing documents, medical textbooks, and a number of collectible figurines that were near and dear to her. Through the turmoil she is trying to keep her spirits high. Denise says, "It won't do any good to dwell on it. It's gone so I'm hoping to maybe find one figurine in the remnants." Denise is hoping to one day put all this behind her and restart her business. Denise says, "We just have to move on and I think I have the most important pieces of what I need to put it back together, we just need to restart and move forward. "The community is also hoping to move forward...Brandon says, "In all told it was one business that was destroyed, and it could have been very much worse had it been on the other side of town, never the less it was still a blow to the community."
