Bock Festival in Full Swing

It looked like spring was just about here, but the snowfall brought us back to reality.Although the winter blahs may be getting to some people, News 12's Erick Lind, found in New Ulm, the people are shaking the blues by partying it up this weekend.(Sound of yodeling)With German heritage in New Ulm, it's not uncommon to hear yodeling in the city limits.Throw in some masks and the Concord Singers and you have the German equivalent of Mardi Gras on your hands called Fasching.Concord Singers Director Bob Beussman says, "..."The singing, and dancing are all efforts to try and drive away the winter.Sarah Furth says, "..."Jill Bartels says, "..."Over at Schell Brewery it's the 2009...BOCKFEST!!...where all the festival goers are hoping the spring is right around the corner.Jodi Marti says, "It's a cabin fever thing. Evidently everybody's had enough of winter, and you just got to cut loose. You dress a little crazy as you can see, but it's a sunny day and it's gorgeous."Schell's has been doing the festival for 22 years now.It's the food and bevarges that have kept it popular, but the crowd has something to do with it too.Adam Nilson says, "The commradory, look at all these people. Right there, that's what it's all about."So whether it was rock and roll, or some oom-pah music...there was a little release from the winter wherever you were in town.In New Ulm, Erick Lind, News 12.
