Moorhead (AP) A Minnesota judge sentenced a Canadian man, charged with nearly stabbing a Montana trucker to death at a Moorhead truck stop, to the Minnesota Security Hospital.

 

 

Judge Galen Vaa ruled Monday that 32–year–old Harmit Bhangu is mentally ill and dangerous and committed him to the secure hospital indefinitely.

 

 

Bhangu has already been found incompetent to stand trial for repeatedly stabbing 51–year–old Dale Morigeau of Ronan, Montana, and assaulting a police officer in January.

 

 

Two psychologists testified that Bhangu heard God order him to kill Morigeau, but also believed he was acting in self–defense.

 

 

Morigeau survived the attack.

 

 

Dr. Paul Reitman says Bhangu suffers from severe hallucinations and hasn't been able to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

 

 

However, he says with medications Bhangu may recover.
