Voters in south-central Minnesota will soon go to the polls to decide the fate of the McLeod West school district and its 500 students. Voters will decide tomorrow if it will dissolve or consolidate with the three nearby districts of Glencoe-Silver Lake, Gibbon- Fairfax- Winthrop, and Buffalo Lake- Hector. Supporters of the plan say consolidation will provide for an orderly transition that will benefit students and strengthen the surviving districts with additional state funds. If the vote fails, the McLeod County commissioners will approve their own dissolution plan.
