Chrysler announces it wants to eliminate nearly 800 of its dealerships nationwide.19 of those will be in Minnesota and one right here in the greater Mankato area.Fox Mankato's, Carly Aplin spoke with the Le Center dealership about what's in store for their franchise.Paul Factor says, "My grandfather bought this place 39 years ago."Paul Factor says they had no idea their dealership was on the chopping block.Paul Factor says, "We were a little surprised this morning when we got a letter from UPS stating we were one of the dealers they're going to try to eliminate."Now, Factor Motors is trying to figure out their next move.Paul Factor says, "It's all real new to us yet."The one thing they do know is that the Le Center dealership will still be around... Factor Motors says they'll continue to operate as a Ford franchise.Paul Factor says, "We still have Ford, we sell lots of Ford and a lot of used vehicles so we'll definitely be here."Paul says the tough part will be telling their customers that they will no longer be selling Chrysler vehicles, or be able to service the ones they've already sold.Paul Factor says, "We have a number of loyal customers and it's going to be hard for us to tell them we can no longer work on your vehicle."But, the decision to eliminate the Chrysler portion of their dealership is not final yet... the company will have the opportunity to appeal to the auto giant.Paul Factor says, "Minnesota has very strong franchise laws and we don't know what our Minnesota auto dealership association what they're going to say about this or what will happen... it's all up in the air yet."But Factor's hoping their decision will keep them open for at least another 39 years.
