Wastewater from Madison Lake will eventually be treated here in Mankato. The city of Mankato received a low-interest 1.2 million dollar loan to connect Madison Lake's wastewater system with Mankato's.Because Mankato has a better wastewater treatment facility, officials believe that will lead to better quality throughout the river valley.Mark Knoff says, "The thing that we've agreed with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency - they've agreed to eliminate that discharge point and to take their waste water to the city of Mankato where we'll treat their waste water."Mankato currently treats the wastewater of Eagle Lake and North Mankato, as well as several other area communities.
