For Chrysler dealers around the country, today was the day scheduled to end their ability to sell the brand along with Dodge and Jeep. That marks the end of long process that has been painful in some ways, but as News 12's Erick Lind tells us it doesn't mean the end of business for some area dealers. Gary Factor has been selling cars in Le Center for nearly 40 years. Tomorrow he will still be doing the same, just without one of his brands. Factor Motors Gary Factor says, "It's kind of out of our hands. We're in much better shape than a lot of dealers." Factor was already planning on selling his franchise to a competitor in the area. Chrysler had a different plan. They blocked the sale, and three weeks ago took away Factor's Chrysler franchise and gave it to the same competitor. Factor adds, "The good news is, I was gearing up for this and letting our inventory run down. The bad news, obviously, I got zero, but that's how it is. You roll with the punches." Just because Factor is dropping the Chrysler brand products, it doesn't mean the end of business. They're just going to switch their focus a little more towards their Fords. Factor Motors customer Pete Plut says, "We're going to go to Factors when we buy our vehicles, not matter what brand they have available. It's for Factor Motors, buying Factor Motors, we're not buying Chrysler."Plut isn't alone in his support for buying local. Factor has already had three Chrysler customers tell him they would switch to Ford. Factor says, "Their exact words for two of them were, 'We are not paying for the car twice, once to you, and once through our taxes,'." Even though the courts are delaying the official end of the 19 Chrysler dealers in Minnesota, Factor says that could change at any moment. Even if that comes after today, he plans to have his last Chrysler product sold by the end of the day. In LeCenter, Erick Lind,Factor says, "It isn't the end of the world. We'll be fine."
