Stage 4; Nature Valley Grand Prix In Mankato Tomorrow

The third day of the Nature Valley Grand Prix ran in Minneapolis today.Tomorrow cyclists will be filling roads in and around Mankato for stage 4, but as News 12's Erick Lind tells us it will rely on many groups to keep the race continuing for years to come.Justin Rinehart is a cycling enthusiast. So much so that he works at Nicollet South Bike Shop.Although he is more of a Mountain Bike Racer he is once again looking forward to the Nature Valley Grand Prix's stop in Mankato.Rinehart says, "It's kind of a smaller sport, not as well known, so anytime you can see it first hand, it lets you realize that these are some serious athletes that can perform at high levels."Rinehart says for fans of cycling it is a rallying event and highlight. It's also a good chance for those with less experience to get a real life example.Recreation cyclist James Krasja says, "Once in a while I do like biking, but I've never actually seen a race like this before, so I'm pretty excited for it."The race is in it's 5th year in Mankato, but coordinators say if the local sponsorship fades, the Grand Prix could come to a stop.Greater Mankato Growth's Liz Sharp says, "Without the business community, and the city, and the county, and the supporting communities it wouldn't happen, so it's definitely a collective effort by all of us to make a race of this caliber successful."Sharp says Greater Mankato Growth helps coordinate the Mankato site for the race, but it's all about bringing the group back together and evaluating for next year.As for Rinehart, he hopes it continues to keep everyone peddling down the road.Rinehart adds, "I think if you have a big exciting event that supports cycling or anything healthy, is a good thing for anyone involved."Erick Lind, News 12.
