Permit Denied For Now, For North Mankato Business

The North Mankato City Council denies a permit change for a local business... in order to buy more time to look at the issue. Matt Raker, owner of Mankato Crank and Chrome asked the city to extend his conditional use permit back in May...The city had asked Raker for more specific changes he wanted made. Just tonight he gave those changes to the council ... however, the 60 day limit to make a motion is almost up. The council was forced to deny the issue so they can decide on new permit conditions...Raker says, he just wants to keep everyone happy, while allowing his business to grow. Matt Raker says, "Everyone can just be happy, that's all we're really trying to accomplish... that us and the community can get along peacefully." The current conditional use permit only allows the business to stay open until 6pm and have 8 cars parked on his lot. He is asking to have his hours extended to 8:30 pm... and have up to 20 cars on his lot. The council did not set a new date to take up the issue.
