A Truman man accused of soliciting sex with a young boy back in December is now out of jail. As News 12's Bryan Piatt reports, a speedy trial didn't happen... but that won't stop prosecutors from preparing the case. It was in this skyway downtown where 37 year old Tavo Bowman allegedly offered an eleven year old boy 20 dollars and asked him to pull down his pants. Bowman was later arrested in Missouri after a nationwide manhunt and put in the Blue Earth County jail. His request for a speedy trial couldn't be granted and he was released on May 19th. Christopher Rovney says, "The primary investigative officer was not available for the trial that was scheduled to be held. We asked for a continuance. Additionally we had witnesses who were out of state that we needed to get lined up and we were not able to do that in time." Bryan Piatt says, "Rovney says he wanted to make sure everything was set in place before things moved to the courtroom." Christopher Rovney says, "We don't want to have a trial without all of our ducks in a row because if we do go to trial and he's acquitted we can't try him again." Bowman is not allowed to possess or use drugs or alcohol and can't have contact with anyone under 18 years of age. If he violates any of these conditions Rovney says he will be put back in jail with bail set at 1 million dollars. A call to Bowman today was not returned but his father tells KEYC he is currently in Colorado. Rovney says the judge did give Bowman permission to leave the state and says he's confident no other children are in danger. Christopher Rovney says, "He has managed to not get in any trouble so I'm comfortable with that. I think the conditions the court put on him are enough that we can ensure that no one else will get harmed." Bowman's trial is currently set for the end of August. In Mankato, Bryan Piatt, News 12. Just moments ago Tavo Ray Bowman returned Brian's phone call. He says he does not want to release a statement at this time, but that he did not request a speedy trial.
