Quick actions by two St. Peter Police officers helped to save the lives of four men struggling to stay above water in the Minnesota River last Saturday. The incident began when a child and a teenager were drowning in the river near Mill Pond Campground. The children made it to shore, but four men who jumped in to help were in danger of drowning.Officers Ryan Eberhart and David Arpin rushed to the scene and with the help of bystanders everyone was rescued.Officer David Arpin says, "We just made a decision and it worked out really well, Ryan pulled the rope out of the bag, and I stripped down put the vest on and we went there and did what we had to do."Although many are calling the officers heroes, both say they were just doing their job.
