Good evening, I'm Dion Cheney. And I'm Nicole Winters, thanks for joining us.The city of Blue Earth holds a meeting today to notify residents that a level three sex offender has moved to Faribault County.News 12's Bryan Piatt was there and joins us live in the newsroom with more.Dion- Nicole. As expected a lot of anxiety and concern was expressed by those who attended the meeting. All of it centered around this man.49 year old Ronald John Madsen who has moved to Faribault County.A member from the Minnesota Department of Corrections told residents today Madsen was arrested in 2005 and charged with using a minor in a sexual performance. He was arrested again in 2006 for possession of child pornography. Both of those arrests happened in Martin County and involved male victims between the ages of 14 and 16...both boys apparently knew him.Madsen has registered as homeless and authorities say today they believe he is living near Elmore in a campground called Woods Lake Park. This has some parents even more concerned.Linda Vanrabenhorst says, "I guess I was surprised you could register as homeless. That gives him protection and freedom because he could register as homeless here and say he's in Elmore and be in another county and come back."Sherwood Krosch says, "I've got a 12 year old grandson. The other guy has a young daughter. We all live within a mile of the park. It's kind of an uncomfortable feeling knowing this guy is there."Authorities say Madsen is required to check in with them every week and if he fails to do so a warrant will be put out for his arrest.A lot of discussion today was centered around what parents can do to protect their children.Anyone with questions can contact the Faribault County Sherriffs Department.Live in the Newsroom, Bryan Piatt, News 12.
