Last summer we told you the story of Marine Lance Corporal Leah Langdon, who helped nab a top terrorist in Iraq. The Le Sueur native is home on leave, and News 12's Erick Lind tells us, she's now looking to help capture some cheer for those still overseas. The 300 Club in LeSueur is known for its strikes, but this weekend the bowling alley will be helping strike forces. For the 2nd time the city will be making care packages for troops. Last time one of those went to Lance Corporal Leah Langdon; now she gets to return the favor. Lance Corporal Langdon says, "Everyday or any day could really be your worst day, and the best part is coming back, having mail call, and getting something, probably completely random from somebody you don't know." She says she even enjoys receiving arts and crafts from kindergarteners to pin up in her room. Two packages from this batch will be going to people Leah served with... making this task even more meaningful. Langdon adds, "It's a good way to say, 'Hey what's up?', and 'We're still thinking about you, even though we don't get to be over there fighting with you.'"The supplies are starting to pile up, and even though Langdon won't be receiving a package, her mom is still looking forward to sending these gifts overseas. Jill Wilson says, "I still know a lot of them that go over and when your child is in the armed services you just feel for everybody, feel for all of them. They have not the best life over there, so it's fun for them to get things." The Plonske's own Club 300, and are glad to help support the troops. Club 300 owner Jim Plonske says, "I have a nephew that's stationed in Hawaii. He's supposed to be deployed to Afghanistan November 7th of this year, so maybe next time he'll be one of the beneficiaries. "Langdon will also be heading to Afghanistan for one more deployment. Before that happens she'll be glad to see her hometown helping out. Langdon adds, "It's going to be nice to just see the community and how they respond to it, because I've seen a lot of good stuff so far, and I can't wait to see everybody come out."The group is still taking donations up until 7 o'clock tomorrow at the bowling alley. They hope to pack 100 boxes on Sunday and need volunteers as well. In Le Sueur, Erick Lind, News 12. They will be holding a fundraiser tomorrow at Club 300 with lunch sales, and a silent auction helping pay for the shipping costs for the packs.
