ST. PAUL, MINN. (AP) _ Governor Tim Pawlenty's administration is ready to move forward with his lone deficit fix starting Wednesday, even as criticism is mounting.
Democratic House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher says the Republican Governor's use of an obscure executive power called 'Unallotment' to balance the budget is wrong and illegal.
She says she will push legislation next year to curb that power.
Management and Budget Commissioner Tom Hanson says the Unallotment process will move ahead.
Democrats spent two hours in a tense hearing with Hanson and other top officials, pressing for details of job losses, property tax increases and other fallout from the budget reductions.
Kelliher says a lawsuit is most likely to come from those hit hardest by cuts to health and human services programs.
