Inmates And Staff Move To New Blue Earth County Jail

Inmates and staff of the Blue Earth County jail are getting used to new surroundings after a weekend move to the new justice center.Moving day began at five in the morning on Saturday and was complete by four the same afternoon.Inmates were transported 3 at a time every half hour to the new facility.Jail Administrator Paul Bogenschetz says overall the transition has been smooth and both inmates and staff have handled it well.Paul Bogenschetz says, "The inmates, that's probably the easy one.I think the staff is a little more difficult...some new equipment and new posts and the job has changed ever so slightly, I mean it's still watching inmates but the surroundings have changed."Changes include better inmate supervision and inmates no longer have to be driven from one building to another to appear before a judge.
