Construction projects across the state are getting ready to begin...all a result of federal economic stimulus money. As News 12's Bryan Piatt reports, there's a group out of Saint Paul that's giving that money a passing grade. Saint Peter is on the verge of seeing economic stimulus money in action.John Van Hecke says, "The highway 169 project is among the very first projects that will be executed."According to Minnesota 2020 the execution of this project and others funded by 4 billion dollars of stimulus money given to the state is serving its purpose.John Van Hecke says, "The economic stimulus package particularly on the transportation side is working. It provides an important road map forward for not just Saint Peter, Mankato, and southern Minnesota but also the state of Minnesota."The groups latest report says 26 thousand jobs will be created through construction like that on Highway 169.And they say stimulus money is giving life to projects that would be at a stand still without it.Conrad deFiebre says, "It also shows us the way forward that we need to start prioritizing needs in this infrastructure which is what keeps our economy vibrant."Vibrant...but also structurally sound.Terry Morrow says, "This work is also essential to doing the water, sewer, the utility work, the work that happens below the ground."Bryan Piatt says, "The project in Saint Peter is getting most of the attention but people here at MNDOT in Mankato say stimulus money is benefiting the entire area."Gordon Regenscheid says, "A little frantic because of the time schedule of how fast we had to get them up and running but It'll be a great shot to the system."And according to Minnesota 2020... a shot many projects have been waiting for.Bryan Piatt, News 12.
