M-S-U's independent public radio station has landed a big recognition.KMSU won the 2008 "Station of the Year" by the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations.The station earned the award for its infrastructure improvements, adding a remote portable studio in the student union, and winning the 2009 Pathfinder Award.Station Manager Jim Gullickson says, to take home an award like this means a lot to not only the station, but the 40 volunteers that help run it.Gullickson says, "These are other people who are in public broadcast and understand all the challenges that come with it. We're really, really proud of being recognized by our peers."Gullickson says the award can also attract potential student employees, which will help the station for years to come.
