MN Republicans Going After Cong. Peterson For Comments

Minnesota Republicans are going after Congressman Collin Peterson over a remark he made about his district.Starting tomorrow, they're running ads on radio stations in his district.Radio Ad: 'So you won't hold town hall meetings? They're not out of touch, you are.'The longtime Democratic member of Congress told an online news site that he avoids holding town meetings because a quarter of his constituents subscribe to conspiracy theories about the government's role in the 9/11 terror attacks.Michael Brodkorb of the MN GOP says, "If you don't want to meet with people, then don't run for Congress."The party will spend at least Ten Thousand dollars on the ads, but party officials aren't giving an exact figure.The DFL is defending Peterson.Brian Melendez of the MN DFL Party says, "It's the fringe that's running the party nowadays. And that's all they can think about. They don't want to have debate about policies. They want to play games."Peterson apologized for the comments on Monday.Peterson heads up the House Agriculture Committee.
