Court's Involvement In Hauser Case Nearing End

Good evening, I'm Dion Cheney.And I'm Nicole Winters.Thanks for jThe story of Daniel Hauser captured the national spotlight last May, when he and his mother left the state to avoid chemotherapy for Daniel's Hodgkin's Lymphoma.Now, after chemo, and at the beginning of radiation therapy, the Brown County Court looks to close the case.News 12's Ryan Gustafson has the story.He's no stranger to the cameras any more, and sporting a full head of strawberry blonde hair, Daniel Hauser walked out of the Brown County Courthouse with the end in sight.Dan Zwackman says, "I'm tired myself just watching. This is America. I've been looking at this as a freedom issue from the beginning."Inside the courtroom, attorneys for the Hauser family dropped their request to have the case closed after Brown County Attorney James Olson recommended to the court to end their involvement with the Hauser family upon completion of Daniel's radiation therapy. His final treatment will be on November 6th.Attorneys for the family said Daniel was eating better, sleeping better, had re-gained weight, and was even helping around the farm.Anthony Hauser says, "It's a good thing to see. Definitely want him up and around - he's strong and healthy."From his diagnosis in January, to the court battle in April, his escape to California in May, his eventual return to Minnesota and chemotherapy - it has been the year of Daniel Hauser.Daniel Hauser says, "I'm glad it's over."In New Ulm, Ryan Gustafson, News 12.
