United States pork producers have been without their third leading importer since late April, but that may change in upcoming days.Of the 27 countries that stopped importing pork from the U.S., China is the only one that hasn't resumed importation.Pork producers have been working with President Obama's administration for a number of months to try and change that.Although it may take days or possibly weeks for a formal announcement, pork producers are quite optimistic.Minnesota Pork Producers Association executive director Dave Preisler says, "For the Chinese government to actually acknowledge they have a plan to open it, and that is their intent to open it, is a tremendous first step."China imported nearly 700 million dollars in pork products in 2008.Preisler (Price-ler) says the announcement may come next month when President Obama visits China.
