A federal agriculture official makes a stop in Minnesota announcing new funding for new farmers and ranchers in Minnesota and surrounding states.Deputy agriculture secretary Kathleen Merrigan makes the stop in Elgin today.The funding will be administered through the beginning farmer and rancher development program, which provides help to farmers and ranchers who have been in business for no more than 10 years.
