''Heart Of New Ulm'' Takes Center Stage In Washington

The City of New Ulm's efforts to get healthy takes center stage in Washington D.C.Minnesota Senator Al Franken praised the Heart of New Ulm project while speaking to lawmakers on the Senate Floor about health care costs.New Ulm has teamed up with Allina Hospital's and Clinics and has made a commitment to reduce heart attacks over the next ten years.Senator Franken says initiatives like this can save the health care system millions of dollars.Senator Al Franken says, "This dedication to wellness will keep residents in New Ulm living longer and healthier, it will also save the healthcare system 10 million dollars the next ten years."Project directors say they will work with residents to improve their health risks, such as physical activity, nutrition, and obesity.Lori Wightman says, "This is a lifestyle not a fad diet, this is something we need to incorporate into our lifestyles, just small changes."Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the U-S.For more information on the Heart of New Ulm Project... just head to keyc dot tv and click on featured links.
