DFL Gubernatorial Candidates speak in Le Sueur

With Governor Pawlenty out of the running, there are plenty of DFL'ers looking to take over.Last night in Le Sueur, a handful of the candidates were on display for the community. Here's a peek at the potential candidates:R.T. Rybak says, "Today we can proudly say that crime has been lowered double digits three years in a row, led by a decrease in juvenile crime by 40%, which is highly important. We've totally erased the employment gap between city and suburb. We've big things on transportation. We've done all of that with strong fiscal management and I believe that's what a governor needs to be."Paul Thissen says, "We need to be talking about and thinking about 2015 and 2020 and 2025 and if we do that, that's the way we're going to deliver both for Minnesotans, and deliver the governorship for the Democrats, which I think is fundamentally important."Matt Entenza says, "I'm from Worthington. If I'm elected, I'll be the first person from the deep southern Minnesota ever to be elected and I think that helps to know rural Minnesota. To know towns like this."Steve Kelley says, "One of the classes I teach is public budgeting. And I taught about inviting Tim Pawlenty to take the class, but he doesn't have the prerequisites for it and I really hate to flunk students. So I didn't send the invitation, but one of the reasons he would flunk is because that the budget should be about the short-term and the long-term good of the state."John Marty says, "Every candidate talks about universal healthcare. I talk about it and I mean it. I've had the foresight and the vision to put together a plan to look at the big picture and fix the problem.'The official primary for the DFL candidates will be on September 14, 2010. Caucuses are on February 2nd.
