The Hilltop Hy-Vee store offered shoppers a chance to try gluten-free products, in an attempt promote healthy living.It was called the Gluten-Free Gala.A gluten-free diet includes foods that are free of wheat, barley, and gluten as a food-thickening agent.People with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder, must maintain a gluten-free diet.But experts say eating gluten-free can have other benefits.Curt Christenson says, "Eating gluten-free itself is better for you, even if you don't have celiac disease or a wheat allergy."Health experts say most gluten-free foods taste just as good as food with gluten.Varieties of gluten-free foods include cookies, crackers, and potato chips.
