A State Patrol investigation into the fatal train accident that killed two Blue Earth County workers says driver error was a contributing factor.Back in July an eastbound union Pacific locomotive struck a Blue Earth County work truck heading south over the railroad tracks on County Road 112.Blue Earth County workers 42-year -old Jack Baker of LeCenter and 43 year old Todd Ziegler of Mankato were killed in the collision. The report stated that Baker failed to yield before crossing the tracks and that it seemed he was unaware that a train was headed for the intersection.Video from inside the train confirmed that information and that its' operator blew the horn twice before the crash. The medical examiners report says that drugs and alcohol were not a factor, but that Mr. Baker may have been experiencing hearing difficulties prior to the accident.
