MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are dismissing a proposal to extend their lease at the Metrodome.
The Vikings' lease at the downtown Minneapolis stadium expires in 2011. The proposal would keep the Vikings in the dome at least two more seasons after their lease expires, with year-to-year renewal options after that. If the Vikings don't agree to the deal,
The proposal says the NFL team might have to resume paying rent at the dome.
But Vikings vice president Lester Bagley calls a lease extension ``a non-starter.''
The resolution was approved Tuesday by the finance committee of the metropolitan sports facilities commission. Committee chair Paul Thatcher says the proposal is aimed at keeping the Vikings in town long enough to secure a new publicly funded stadium.
