MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Hennepin County Medical Center is proposing cutting another 150 to 200 more jobs and closing a clinic in response to the elimination of a state health care program.
HCMC's board on Wednesday approved a 2010 budget that includes closing programs, cutting jobs and capital spending.
The board met to approve its first budget since the state eliminated the general assistance medical care program for poor adults.
HCMC assumes it will lose about $43 million due to the cut.
Next year HCMC expects to cut 150 to 200 more positions to save up to $15 million.
The proposed budget also calls for closing the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program and closing the Senior Care Clinic.
HCMC's budget goes Tuesday to the Hennepin County Board, which will make a final decision in December.
