Bus Driver May Have Suffered Medical Emergency Before Fatal Crash

Victims of yesterday's bus crash near Austin continue to recover...Meanwhile, a medical emergency suffered by the driver is being looked at as the cause of the deadly accident...The bus company's owner says Ed Erickson of Elgin suffered a ruptured Aneurysm right before the bus veered off Interstate 90 and crashed.Dalmer Strain of Strain Motorcoach Tours says Erickson, lost consciousness just before the bus swerved across the median into oncoming traffic.Dalmer Strain says, "The passenger behind him called us and his brother was on there and said that his body went into a shake, a tremor. And he passed, slumped right over the wheel.'Erickson remains hospitalized.No information about his Condition is being released at his request... but Strain says he's recovering... ((08))Strain says, "He's alert. He's very much concerned of a, of the passengers that was on the bus. That's his number one concern and like all of us are."State patrol identifies the two people killed as 56-year-old Pamela S. Holmquist of Kasson and 52-year-old Rhonda R. Hill of Plainview.One passenger is hospitalized in serious condition; 10 passengers are hospitalized in fair condition, eight were treated and released, and one showed no apparent injuries.
