The Nicollet Raiders are one of three local football teams that played at the Metrodome today. As News 12's Erick Lind explains the population says just under 900 people, but today that number was much smaller.Arndt's Mug 'n Jug in Nicollet is usually hoping on a Saturday morning. That wasn't quite the case today.Raiders fan Dood Grunts says, "Usually there's more people here, but they're all up to the Dome."Those that weren't able to make the trip were on hand, but not to watch on one of the televisions. This group was listening to the radio, and taking pride in knowing the team was playing.Grunts says, "Oh you bet. It's good for the town."Finding people at home was just as tough. Many of the homes have players on the team and several other residents just went to the dome to cheer on their town's team.Nicollet Consignment Shop was showing its support on the front door. The only surprise is that they were actually open, when they could be at the game, but they weren't expecting many from town.Nicollet Consignment Shop owner Gary Kollmann says, "I don't suppose we'll have too many local people in today, but there'll be a lot of people going by after awhile."There were plenty of customers at Schmidt's Meat Market because they are coming from out of town. The biggest problem this store was facing was that much of their weekend help are students at the school.Schmidt's Meat Market owner Ryan Schmidt says, "Obviously we want them to win, but we have the struggles of filling the positions with people wanting to go up to the Dome to support the team too, but we want them to win for sure."The game came down to the wire, but the Raiders prevailed and are moving on to the PrepBowl next week. That means Schmidt will have to shuffle those schedules again, and Kollmann will be using this side of the sign.Kollmann says, "Oh yeah, it will be closed."In Nicollet, Erick Lind,(Wohoo We Won!)News 12.
