3rd Annual Turkey Trot Held In Sleepy Eye

While many were still in bed dreaming of the delicious things they'd be eating today, people in Sleepy Eye were busy burning calories in anticipation of the big meal ahead.Studio 34 hosted its third annual Turkey Trot.Weight training kicked off at 6:30 this morning before participants headed outside for a chilly four-mile run or walk. The Turkey Trot was free to those who came out, though gym-goers all brought in donations for the local food shelf.Brent Mielke says, "We're thinking that the average American gains seven pounds a day. That's why we're out here trying to keep our weight down. But we also realize there are people that are starving or don't have enough food on the table, a lot of kids are going hungry today so that's why we're doing this. It's a good benefit."43 people participated this morning... almost tripling the number of people who showed up last year.A fourth annual Turkey Trot is already being planned for next year.
