The goal for many Black Friday shoppers was to get their hands on the hot toys this holiday season.But what's hot may not always have your child's best interest at heart.News 12's Erin Reed explores the world of educational toys.Finding that perfect holiday toy for your good little girls and boys isn't always an easy task.Especially when they're still young.Pam Willard, says "The first five years of life build the whole foundation for learning."Pam Willard is the director at Golden Heart Daycare in North Mankato and knows first hand how hard shopping for toys can be.Pam says, "Try to look at what the child's interests are, or the family interests are, so that it is something that appeals to them as a family and so that it gets into the interest level of the child, because if you buy something that is not of interest to the child they're not going to play with it no matter what you spend on it."Erin Reed says, "To know if the toy you're buying is a good fit for you're child first take a look at the box and make sure it's something for their age group."Second make sure it has things like buttons or dials... anything to peek their curiosity to encourage the use of motor skills.For parents that want to get creative sometimes it's even best to take a do-it-yourself approach.Cindy Zuehlke says, "It seems like they like the toys that are homemade."So no matter what your budget is this holiday season....
