New Figures Show Flu Infections Dropping Off

Ten more people in Minnesota have died of the flu this year...Despite the latest figures the Minnesota Health Department reports other statistics indicate flu infections are dropping off.The department says there have been seven more deaths from the H1N1 flu, two from unspecified kinds of the flu and the season's first seasonal flu death. There have now been 39 deaths associated with H1N1 flu, five from unspecified flu types and one from seasonal flu. That's a total of 45.However, there were no flu outbreaks in schools during the last full week of November, the first time that's happened in about 10 weeks.Still, doctors say we're not out of the woods just yet.Dr. Mark Matthias says, 'There is a concern that there may be another peak after the first of the new year, perhaps as everybody gets together for the Christmas holidays; there's also been some speculation that in the spring we'll see another peak. We just don't know.'Dr. Matthias says people need to keep up their precautions against the flu, including covering your cough and frequent hand washing.
