Arrest Made in Lafayette Thefts

Nicollet County authorities believe they've solved a case from earlier this year.Michael Eng the Third has been charged with two counts of felony theft and nine counts of misdemeanor theft stemming from a series of break-ins and burglary in the Lafayette area back in April.The incidents resulted over a thousand dollars in damages to vehicles.Deputies received one report from a resident saying a light bulb on their garage had been tampered with.That is exactly what the department needed to catch their suspect.Nicollet County Sheriff's Department Investigator Marc Chadderdon says, "A motion light had went off and they unscrewed the light bulb, and so the deputy collect that. We were able to get a fingerprint off that and it was sent to the BCA and we got a name of a suspect."Authorities say Eng admitted to his involvement after being confronted.He's currently in custody in Sibley County Jail awaiting a second hearing on unrelated charges.Nicollet County has a warrant for him if he is released.
