The small town of Lewisville is in a state of shock today after a tragedy leaves three people dead.News 12's Jennifer Hudspeth was on the scene and joins us live in the newsroom with the latest details.Sara, it happened around 7:45 this morning when the Watonwan County Sheriff's Department was called to a home where gunshots were heard in Antrim Township, just on the outskirts of Lewisville.According to a press release when a deputy and a Madelia Police Officer entered the home, they found one person lying at the bottom of the basement steps.As they continued the investigation they found two more people dead in the basement.At this time Authorities believe it was a domestic situation where a confrontation took place.The sheriff's department says a 25 year old woman and her 59 year old step dad were both fatally shot.Authorities say it appears the suspect a 28 year old man then turned the gun on himself.After hearing the news...residents in Lewisville are still in a state of disbelief.Jake Dougherty says, "It's bad, that's all I can says, it's crazy... it's bad."Authorities say the 25 year old woman had a no contact order against the suspect, who had been charged in December with Domestic abuse against her.Authorities say he was arrested again on January 5th for violating the no contact order and was released after posting bail just last Thursday.After speaking with many residents of Lewisville...it is very clear that no one expected a tragedy like this to hit the small town.Brenda Dougherty says, "Nobody wants to talk about it because they're just like us...we're like wow, we're shocked and this is going to take a long time for people....to heal this one."The investigation is still going on... the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the State Crime Lab are helping with the case.Authorities don't want the names of the victims to be released until family members have been notified, authorities say some family members are out of the country and hard to get a hold of.Live in the Newsroom, Jennifer Hudspeth News 12.
