Cong. Walz Recognizes Vets Efforts

The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans gets some recognition from Washington...The group is being honored by VA Secretary Eric Shinseki for its outstanding achievement by a community.Today Congressman Tim Walz was in Mankato to talk to local veterans and recognize the efforts to help homeless vets get off the streets and headed in the right direction. One of those achievements was the Paul and Dorothy Radichel (radical) town homes that provide permanent, supportive housing for veterans.Congressman Walz says, "These folks aren't veterans they're heroes. They're willing to serve, but when you come back with war injuries and different things that make it difficult to maintain a home, difficult to maintain a career this group was here and this community was here."The award was a collaborative effort between Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, the commissioners of Blue Earth County, HUD and Veteran Services.
