Congressman Tim Walz wants to make sure that bank bailout money doesn't find its way into political campaigns. He's introduced the Separate Taxpayer dollars from the Election Process Act.It would require corporations receiving funds through the TARP program to keep the money separate from other operating funds and prohibits the use of bailout funds for electioneering communication. The bill comes in reaction to a recent Supreme Court decision that overturned the federal ban on direct corporate and union donations to political campaigns.
