A settlement is reached between the City of Sleepy Eye and Dave Sievert, the former Sleepy Eye police Chief.Seivert was fired in 2007, and sued the city for allegedly discriminating against him.City Manager Mark Kober says the city's insurance provider, settled with Seivert to avoid a long litigation in federal court.Seivert claims the city of Sleepy Eye violated the Americans With Disabilities Act when they fired him because of a substance abuse problem, which the city felt, made him unfit to do his job.The city denies any wrongdoing in the case, but the insurance company will pay Seivert $50-thousand dollars.
